More than 100 known professionals, CEOs of successful companies, and representatives of government bodies take to the stage to share their knowledge and experience with an audience exceeding 400 people on-site. This is the 7th Digital Szeklerland conference, which started today in Marosvásárhely/Târgu Mureș at Sapientia University.
“The conference is a great opportunity to talk about our experience with clients from across the globe and to handle the Szekler audience’s skepticism about technology. There is a difference in how users from Western countries approach technology and how people from this region do. This event acts as a bridge that connects us with users and developers so we can start a discussion and explain the opportunities in digitalization. It’s a good opportunity to tell people to think big,” Attila Tóth, Managing Partner of Cognitive Creators, tells TransylvaniaNOW.
This year, the conference’s main topic is artificial intelligence, so the panel discussions were built around this topic. But the main goal of the organizers – IT Plus Cluster from Csíkszereda/Miercurea Ciuc – is to provide a meeting place for representatives of the IT sector (and other industries) in Szeklerland to share their experience and think together about the future of this region. Digitalization is viewed as a growth point of this region, because at this moment “we are living the early days of the digital revolution in Szeklerland,” Attila Rácz, vice president of the IT Plus Cluster, tells TransylvaniaNOW.
After the introductory speeches, the conference’s schedule kick started with a presentation and live demonstration of artificial intelligence, thanks to Gergely Szertics’ presentation. Entering the main hall of Sapientia University, you could see adults of all age groups with smiles on their faces while chatting with old friends and freshly met professionals, talking about future plans and possible collaboration options. Young and wannabe entrepreneurs took the opportunity to pitch their business ideas to a group of professionals as part of the start-up and student projects panel discussions.
The first day ended with two Szeklers’ discussing digitalization: Dr. László Albert Barabási, Hungarian-American physicist, best known for his work in the research of network theory; and Gábor Kolumbán, president of the Civitas Foundation’s governing board.
