Professor Ferenc Albert was honored on his 90th birthday by the Temesvár/Timișoara University of Agricultural Sciences where he was a teacher of social sciences for over 60 years.
Born on August 20, 1929 in Brassó/Brașov, Albert graduated with honors from the Kolozsvár/Cluj Institute of Agronomics, he started teaching social sciences in Temesvár in 1955. He was the founding member and honorary President of the International Sociological Association, leader of the Temesvár Science University’s laboratory of sociology and part of an international team of experts tasked with modernizing the agriculture of former communist countries and former member states of the Soviet Union.
As a researcher and author, he published several books and hundreds of scientific papers, mainly related to his principal field of research, leisure and its social connotations. He was part of the Romanian delegation at several Sociology World Congresses, founding member of the Bánát/Banat Association of Hungarian Farmers.
Ferenc Albert became a corresponding member of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences in 1995.
