“Loveline – digital education” is the title of the countrywide, complex project in Romania where participants are collecting laptops, tablets and smartphones for Transylvanian Hungarian children in need. The equipment is necessary for those children without such devices so that they can participate in distance learning in the wake of the coronavirus.
The Hungarian Parent Association initiated the program, and Romania’s historical Hungarian churches are helping deliver the digital equipment directly to the needy children. All requests from the families arrive at the churches, and then courier companies and aid organizations assist with delivering them to homes in the area.

– reads the program’s communique, which continues as follows:
“A lot of people have turned recently to the Hungarian Parents Association, saying that their children’s participation in online education is causing problems. Many families have computers and smartphones, but in the case of two to three schoolchildren, they still lack the necessary equipment. In many cases, parents have to work from home while online classes are taking place.
Many Transylvanian entrepreneurs and private individuals have already donated equipment, but looking at the size of the project, a lot of help is still needed. So if you have a spare laptop, tablet, smartphone or fully equipped computer in good condition that you do not use anymore, please give it to a child who would need it for online education.”
