A two-year-long partnership agreement was signed between the representatives of the Marosvásárhely/Târgu Mureș University Sports Club and the Scott ProCycling Romania team in Marosvásárhely a few days ago. Previously, the University’s sport club had established its own cycling section, which then could be followed up with this collaboration agreement between the two organizations.
“I recently set up the Cycling Section within the Marosvásárhely University Sports Club, and after conducting some market research and coming to the conclusion that the Scott ProCycling team is one of the most prestigious clubs in Romania, [and] I also signed a collaboration agreement with them today,” declared the director of the Marosvásárhely University Sports Club, Laurențiu Magdaș.
The new team is going to compete in the future under the name of CSU Scott ProCycling, with the following athletes: Lucian Logigan, Roberto Burța, Tudor Oprea, Mihnea Stratulat (elite category), Răzvan Grec, Ionuț Nicola, Cătălin Buta, Paul Tudor (junior category) and Vlad Brașoveanu (cadet category). The team will be coordinated by team manager Tudor Oprea.
According to the agreement, the two sport clubs will provide all the necessary resources for the athletes for their training sessions and their participation at both domestic and international competitions.
“The way I see it, this agreement is a relaunch of our sporting activity. I needed new challenges and goals, which I believe we got by signing this partnership agreement. We are one of the major teams in mountain biking in Romania, and we will remain so. One of the main strengths of the new team is the University’s training base, which will be a big help for us in our new training sessions,” stated president of Scott ProCycling Romania, Tudor Oprea.
The new team of CSU Scott ProCycling is going to have a very busy competition calendar in the upcoming 2020 season, both domestically and internationally. Their main goals are winning the Romanian Cup in the XCO Elite and U23 categories, reaching podium rankings at the XCO and the XCM National Championships in the junior, U23 and Elite categories, and also to win at least one national championship title. Looking at the international stage, the new team is going to participate at six competitions this year and at least one of them will be a World Cup round.
