Wolves follow horse-drawn cart in Csíkmenaság [VIDEO]

Home to some of Europe’s last virgin forests, Transylvania is very rich in wildlife, including the largest population of brown bears, which has become a hot topic in the country. Bears tend to even visit hotels – well, not for booking a two-night stay – and more recently, one bear killed a man in Maros County. In areas close to the forest, locals see wild animals quite often, but the video captured by a local in Csíkmenaság/Armaşeni, Hargita/Harghita County and shared on Facebook is what we could call a rare and surprising case (via Székelyhon).

As you can see in the videos inserted below, two big wolves are seen following a horse-drawn cart up close. At first glance, they seem very peaceful, but you never know for sure with a wolf. Later on, the two wolves fight with the local’s dog, but every involved party gets away unharmed.

The videos were posted by Claudiu Luntraru on his Facebook page with an important note: The local speaking in the video is Hungarian, not Turkish. Luntaru had to note this because Romanians watching the video didn’t understand the language being spoken and started making guesses about the location.

So, the Romanian media has been focusing on the bear problem, but lately we’ve seen reports of damage caused by hungry wolves as well. Another question that some of you might have is how footage recorded in Csíkménaság ends up posted by a Facebook user located in Buzău. But that’s the ‘beauty’ of the internet and social media.
