World-famous musicians to perform in Székelyföld

It has been announced that two renowned musicians will perform to perform in Székelyföld in the forthcoming months. First, Tarja Turunen will give a free concert in Sepsiszentgyögy/Sfântu Gheorghe in May, and the second artist, Lost Frequencies, will perform at the Vibe Festival in Marosvásárhely/Târgu Mureș in July.

Reaching international fame as the soprano lead and co-founder of the renowned Finnish band, Nightwish, Tarja Turunen will take the stage in Sepsiszentgyögy on May 5, 2019. Her performance will be the closing event of the 12 day-long Szent György Days, cultural festival organized by the city council. Tarja Turunen got famous by combining her soprano vocals with metal music, which brought to life and popularized an entire genre. After leaving the band in 2005, she dedicated herself to a successful solo career and besides rock, she released classical and even Christmas albums as well. Her latest rock  album “The Shadow Self” – released in 2016 – found topped rock and heavy metal charts on iTunes in several countries, while her latest live album “Act II (Live)” – released in 2018 – proves that Tarja is one of the best live vocals ever coming from Scandinavia.

Two months after the Finnish singer’s concert, you can catch another famous artist in Székelyföld. Brussels-based Lost Frequencies – who is the revelation of the current Electronic Dance Music generation – will be playing at the Vibe festival, in Marosvásárhely between July 4-7. Lost Frequencies is the stage name of a 25-year-old Belgian prodigy – born Felix de Laet – who emerged from the crammed pool of aspiring Dance music stars in 2014 and immediately delivered a worldwide hit single, going by the name of ‘Are You With Me’. After its release the song made it to the top 10 in 18 countries worldwide and by today it has almost 275 million views on YouTube. The Belgian Dj’s second hit, ‘Reality’ is also going to be reaching the 200 million views soon, while in 2017 and 2018 he collaborated with artists like James Blunt, Zonderling and Netsky.

The festival organizers – besides inviting the biggest names from Hungary and Transylvania to the Vibe – plan to have one international artist each day of the festival and Lost Frequencies was the first one announced.
