Wild boar kills hunter in Szatmár county

A wild boar killed a hunter in Romania’s north-western Szatmár/Satu Mare county, national news agency Agerpres reported.

The news agency quoted police spokesman Paul Cochera as saying that the man shot the animal, but having only injured it, the boar attacked and injured him mortally. He was taken to the nearest medical cabinet in the village of Alsószopor/Supur, but his life could not be saved.

While the 57-year-old man had a license for his hunting rifle, he did not have a hunting license. Police seized the weapon and launched an investigation into the accident.
