Three former students of the Media Department at the Sapientia Hungarian University of Transylvania were nominated: Cecília Felméri for best first film director and best director, Ábel Visky for documentary movie director, and Gyopár Buzási for the animation movie category.
The jury delegated by the Hungarian Film Academy Foundation nominated five works and five artists in each of the 20 categories of the Hungarian Movie Awards. The award ceremony will take place on June 26 at the Hungarian Movie Festival organized by the National Film Institute and the Veszprém-Balaton 2023 – European Cultural Capital program in Balatonfüred.
Cecília Felméri, a teacher at Sapientia University, is competing for the title of best director with her movie entitled Spiral. The other nominees are: Gábor Herendi for the movie Toxicoma, Linda Dombrovszky for Pilate and Dénes Nagy for Natural Light.
This year there will also be an award for the best first movie director: Cecília Felméri has again been nominated for Spiral, Nóra Lakos for Foam, Balázs Krasznahorkai for Ravine, Dénes Nagy for Natural Light and Péter Varsics for Perfect as You Are.
Ábel Visky, guest teacher at Sapienta University, is competing with his movie Tales from the Prison Cell in the documentary category, where I Died a Hundred Times Today was also nominated (Dávid Géczy Dávid, Zoltán Janovics), as well as Our Kodály (Eszter Petrovics), Wild horses – Tale from the Hortobágy (Zoltán Török), and Stones (György Dobray).
In the animation category, Gyopár Buzási was nominated with her movie entitled The Last Tale. The other nominees are: Világzabáló és a visszacsinálók (Ferenc Cakó), Bye, My Little apartment! (Éva Darabos), I Still Remember (Flóra Chilton) and Moholymotion (Éva Darabos Éva, Melinda Kádár, Lili Korcsok, Borbála Mákó).
