Economic students from Kolozsvár/Cluj-Napoca, from the Babeș-Bolyai University (UBB), reached second place -by showing an extraordinary performance- at an international strategy management case study competition at the American Georgetown University, in Washington DC, and won the „Runner-up” prize of the competition, the Hungarian Department of Economics and Business Administration of the UBB said.
In the group where the Kolozsvár students were competing the first place was won by the team of the Fordham University (New York), and the second place by the Babeș-Bolyai University’s team. The UBB students overtook such famous American Universities like Pennsylvania State University, Stetson University (Florida) and the Emory University (Atlanta).
The McDonough Business Strategy Challenge, an international case study competition organized by the McDonough School of Business (the Economics Department of the Georgetown University) took place between February -9, 2019a total 19 participating universities from the US and Europe. The students’ task was to develop an overall strategy for a non-profit organization, called American Cancer Society, which could provide a sustainable model for long term, involving young generations of volunteers into the organization’s work.
The team members of the Hungarian Department of Economics and Business Administration of the Babeș-Bolyai University were, Tamás Barabási (Business Information Systems, 3rd year); Balázs Boga (Management, 1st year); Kincső Kelemen (Business Information Systems, 3rd year); Zsuzsánna Pádár (Finance and Bank, 3rd year). The preparatory teachers of the Kolozsvár team were dr. Levente Szász, dr. Lehel-Zoltán Györfy, and dr. Béla-Gergely Rácz.
Another group of students from the Hungarian Department, the Synergy team was also successful at another competition a few days ago. The team – prepared by dr. Bálint Zsolt Nagy and Botond Benedek – won the regional finals of the PRMIA Risk Management case study competition in Budapest on the 8th February 2019, which means that from the region they are the ones who made it to the international finals of the competition, to Montreal. The members of the team are Norbert Costiniuc (Finance and Bank, 3rd year); Levente Deák (Corporate Financial Management, Masters 2nd year); Kriszta Domahidi (Corporate Financial Management, Masters 1st year); Patrik Juhász (Corporate Financial Management, 2nd year).
