Residents of Kolozsvár/Cluj will be able to safely hike in Bükk/Făget after the planned forest park is complete, the municipality promises. EU financing will create the park near the city’s pedestrian and bicycle paths, which will also be lit for greater safety. According to the plans, there will be two resting spaces and five pavilions for smaller performances or for shelter during rainy weather.
So as not to interfere with the natural environment, any outdoor furniture will be made of wood and no concrete foundations will be used. Bike racks will be available, but there will be no garbage cans so that people get used to the habit of not leaving anything in the forest. The purpose of the forest park – besides offering a possibility for recreation and sports – is also to help people learn about the different species of plants and animals that live there. The main entrance to the Bükk/Făget forest park will be on the Felek/Feleacu side, and there will also be three side-entrances.
The planning has involved forest park experts, teachers from Babes-Bolyai University and representatives for the local civilians. Additionally, the municipality plans to develop a parking lot at Tordai út/Calea Turzii as well as lengthen some of the public transportation lines so that inhabitants can more easily reach the forest park. According to the city of Kolozsvár/Cluj, if the procurement procedure is carried out this year, work can start next year. All current plans and studies can be viewed here.
