Third-league Csíkszereda (Miercurea Ciuc) FK beat Dinamo București 4-3 after penalties and advanced to the quarter-finals of the Romanian Cup on Thursday. Dinamo is currently 12th in the 14-team Romanian first league while Csíkszereda is second in series 5 of the third league, which consists of a total 80 teams.
Normal play time ended with a 3-3 draw, and Csíkszereda won the penalty shots 6-5 after Dinamo’s Belgian left-back Kino Delorge missed his kick for a second time – the referee had that last shot repeated.
Unusually for this level of game, it was broadcast by three national TV stations, Romanian National Radio and radio Marosvásárhely (Târgu Mureș).
“It was a crazy game, not recommended to anyone with a heart condition,” Csíkszereda coach Valentin Suciu said after the victory.
