Regarding the vaccination of medical staff, there is a proposal that those who do not want to be vaccinated against COVID should be tested and bear the cost of their testing, said Romanian Prime Minister Florin Cîţu on Tuesday.
The prime minister was asked by journalists whether the Romanian government was considering making COVID vaccination compulsory among nurses and nursing staff working with the elderly, following the example of France and Greece, where the authorities just announced this.
“First of all, we should start with on a positive note: Romania today has the lowest infection rate in Europe,” said Florin Cîţu on Tuesday at Victoria Palace, adding:
“Regarding vaccination among medical staff, there is a proposal to test those who do not want to be vaccinated and that they should pay themselves for these tests. This is the proposal we made to the Ministry of Health”
The Strategic Communication Group (GCS) announced on Wednesday, July 14, that 292 coronavirus-infected people are hospitalized in Romania in the country’s specialized health units, out of which 51 are in intensive care.
A total of 2,053 people confirmed to have coronavirus are in isolation at home, and 622 are in institutionalized isolation. Also, 24,818 people are in home quarantine, while 23 people are in institutionalized quarantine.
The GCS also announced on Wednesday that in the last 24 hours, nine deaths — four men and five women — have been reported for patients infected with the coronavirus; six of these are actually from last year and the first half of this year but were entered into the database only now at the request of the Ministry of Health by the Public Health Directorates, following verifications of their deaths.
