The digital, unified European coronavirus vaccination certificate can be downloaded in Romania starting on July 1, Andrei Baciu, state secretary at the Ministry of Health announced on Monday. The vaccination certificate can be accessed and downloaded from the certificat-covid.gov.ro website and can be used while traveling in Europe, maszol.ro reports.
The state secretary said that vaccinated people have to open an account on the certificat-covid.gov.ro website, which is not accessible at the moment, and download the digital, unified European coronavirus vaccination certificate via a link sent to your provided e-mail address. Those who cannot access the internet may ask their family doctors or the county health directorate to help them.
Andrei Baciu added that the government will create a call center where people can report any problems or specific situations. The state secretary also announced that there will be a six-week transition period starting July 1, during which both the “classic” vaccination card and the digital card can be used.
Baciu stressed that the aim of the unified vaccination certificate is to make movement between countries easier and simplify border crossing. The certificate – which proves that the person was vaccinated, has been infected with the virus in the last 180 days, or has a negative coronavirus test – will include a QR code that guarantees the certificate’s authenticity. At the border, the authorities will check the QR code, and there will be no need for further checks as to the authenticity of the documents.
The state secretary at the Ministry of Health also emphasized that the vaccination certificate does not replace other travel documents, such as passports or ID cards, which are still necessary for border crossing.
