The final of the log-pulling tournament at the 13th edition of the Szeklerland Horse Festival will be held in Gyergyószentmiklós/Gheorgheni this weekend. Viewers can only join the event online, via the Festival’s Facebook page, or watch it on Gyergyó TV. Only members of the staff and the organizers will be on-site.
“Both the Council of Harghita County and Harghita County Development Agency support equestrian sports, in hard times as well,” said Árpád Cilip, director of the agency. He added that they switched to streaming the event online, so it will reach many more people, including youngsters and people living abroad.
Előd Tatár, leader of the Sport Club of Gyergyószentmiklós, said that “it is important for the people who prepare for this event for the entire year, individually or in teams, to be able to show the results of their work in different sports events […] The log-pulling contest is a new event under the category of Working Horses we hope the Romanian Horse Association will join as well,” emphasized Tibor Bajkó, the president of the organizer, Krigel Sports Club.
The final will be held on Saturday, starting at 9:30 a.m. Besides the log pulling, there will also be charioteering, the Ágnes Páll cup, and a high-jumping contest in memory of Péter István; plus, there will be a presentation by a stuntman team from Farkaslaka/Lupeni.
