The head of the Suceava Hospital for Infectious Diseases, Monica Terteliu, has become infected with coronavirus for the second time, the medical director of the Suceava County Hospital, Valeriu Gavrilovici, announced at the end of last week. According to Gavrilovici, Terteliu was hospitalized and her condition is not serious.
Monica Terteliu’s treatment is being monitored closely, as she is the first doctor in Romania to get infected twice.
According to Gavrilovici, “it is not really clear” if this is a completely new infection or is due to her first contact with the virus not resulting in the production of a sufficient number of antibodies. An epidemiological investigation has been launched.
Suceava was the coronavirus epicenter in Romania. At the end of March, the city and eight neighboring settlements were locked down.
