Transylvanian statistics site launched

ErdélyStat, a site publishing Transylvanian statistics and analyses was launched today. The project was initiated by the Democratic Alliance of Hungarians in Romania (RMDSZ) while the specialist background is provided by the Center for Public Policy Analysis and the National Institute for Minority Research.

RMDSZ managing director Bálint Porcsalmi said the site was necessary because many available data are either scattered or difficult to come by. The majority of the data will, of course, not be generated by the site, but gathered from sources such as the National Institute of Statistics and Eurostat. ErdélyStat will, however, regularly publish analyses and forecasts based on the data.

Every Hungarian-inhabited region and settlement will have its own data sheet with its own set of relevant social, economic and educational data.

The site has its financing ensured for the first three year of functioning.
