As the date of Pope Francis’ visit to Transylvania gets closer, the promised adjustments to the outdoor Hármashalom altar are progressing. The outdoor altar is where the Pentecost Pilgrimage Holy Mass is held. As we previously reported, the altar will be extended and roofed specifically for Pope Francis’ Mass, with the aim of making it more beautiful, practical, and spacey.
The visualization of the upcoming modifications was posted on the pilgrimage site’s official Facebook page. At that time, they had 60% of the necessary funds to initiate the changes from donations from the community, and abbot Mihály Bőjte expressed his hope that they would get the remaining sum as well. Since the the Hungarian government has announced that it has sponsored preparations for the Papal Mass of Csíksomlyó/Şumuleu Ciuc with nearly HUF 160 million (EUR 500,000)
Our photographer Vajk István Szigeti visited the pilgrimage site and took a few shots, which we will now share exclusively with you, Transylvania NOW readers. As you can see in the pictures inserted below, the works have started, so the pilgrims arriving for Pope Francis’ mass will get to enjoy the remodeled Hármashalom altar.
