Szatmár gets EUR 40 million shopping mall

Just in time for the Chirstmas shopping season, a 29.000 square meter shopping mall was opened in Szatmár/Satu Mare in northwest Romania. The mall named Shopping City has 85 shops, 1,000 parking places and provides jobs for over 900 people.

At the opening Szatmár mayor Gábor Kereskényi said that the developer, NEPI Rockcastle has been a good partner to the city during the development period, contributing EUR 100,000 to the construction of a pedestrian bridge over the Szamos/Someș river and becoming the city’s largest taxpayer.

NEPI Rockcastle plc resulted further to the merger of New Europe Property Investments plc (NEPI) and Rockcastle Global Real Estate Company Limited (Rockcastle) on 11 July 2017, becoming the leading property investment and development group in CEE.

It has major investments in Romania, Poland and Slovakia and a strong presence in Croatia, Bulgaria, Hungary, Czech Republic, Serbia and Lithuania, while also running a retail expansion program in other Central and Eastern Europe markets.

The company is listed on the Main Board of the Johannesburg Stock Exchange Limited (JSE) and Euronext Amsterdam.
