Papal visit to Transylvania: over 110,000 registrations

More than 110,000 pilgrims have registered online on the platform created especially for the visit of Pope Francis to Csíksomlyó/Șumuleu Ciuc. The online registration is now closed, but the data wasn’t processed in full, according to romkat.ro.

The final number of pre-registered pilgrims will be available only in the next couple weeks, because, as of writing, there are 13,509 registrations still pending. According to Romkat, interest has been very high, and they are still working on processing the registrations: roughly 90% of the individual registrations have been processed, but they still need to deal with nearly half of the group registrations.

The number of individual (or with family members) registrations reached 34,592, while the 1334 groups (between 3000 and 4000 people) count 75,674 pilgrims. Of the currently available data, 26,329 individuals and 56,789 group members are from Romania, which compares to pilgrims arriving from Hungary: 7687 registered individuals and 17,364 pilgrims as group members. The data shows that 526 individuals and 1,521 pilgrims will be arriving as part of groups from other countries.

The top spot goes to the Holy Cross parish from Csíkszereda/Miercurea-Ciuc with 4,092 registered pilgrims, followed by the Saint Augustine parish with 1,618, and in third place, with 1,300 pilgrims, we find the Association of Csángó-Hungarians in Moldavia.
