Kolozsvár to host Start-Up Europe Summit in March

Kolozsvár/Cluj-Napoca will host this year’s Start-Up Europe Summit (SES) between March 21-22. SES is an annual conference that brings together entrepreneurs, investors, academics, policy makers and major corporations.It showcases new EU-funded initiatives designed to boost Europe’s tech and web startups.The first SES was held in Berlin in 2015.

This year summit is held in Romania because on January 1 the country assumed the revolving presidency of the European Union for six months. Hungarian-language news portal Transindex wrote that the total cost of the summit will be RON 1.45 million ($354,000) of which the European Commission will cover RON 600,000, the government RON 500,000 and the local municipality RON 282,000.

The list of attending officials has not yet been released, but usually at least some Prime Ministers or Presidents of EU member states attend.
