€4.7M for unique family adventure park in Sepsiszentgyörgy

The Sepsiszentgyörgy/Sfântu Gheorghe local government plans to invest €4.7 million to build a unique adventure park in the county, on a 12 plot hectares between Sugásfürdő/Șugaș Băi and the city (via Székelyhon). The investment plan is open to public debate for locals to submit their ideas and suggestions.

The investment seeks to increase the tourism potential of the city and targets families living within a 200–250 km range in cities such as Bucharest, Brassó/Brasov, Marosvásárhely/Târgu Mureș, Székelyudvarhely/Odorheiu Secuiesc, Ploiești, Gyulafehérvár/Alba Iulia, and the like. The potential is high: according to early calculations, the population of the targeted area is 7.2 million.

According to the public plan, the Family Adventure Park will include a two-level building with gift stores, a restaurant and bar with a glass terrace above the lake, a movie theater, and other recreational facilities. The plans also include a miniature town named Gulliver City, where visitors can view the world’s renowned monuments recreated with 3D technology.

The initiators have also envisioned a one-kilometer alpine ride alongside what they call the Magic Water Lift, which sinks into a lake through a glass tunnel where visitors can observe the wildlife and the hidden treasures of pirates.

The land belongs to the local government, so property rights won’t stand in the way, and if everything goes as planned, the project can be implemented within sixteen months, the initiators say. The Family Adventure Park will create 21 new jobs with an additional 16 during the April–August period. Locals are encouraged to submit their opinions and suggestions via email or on paper by visiting the local authority’s Registry Office.
